Today is the last day of my internship. My manager is so nice to me. She ordered big breakfast for everyone in the diabetes marketing team as my going-away party. At noon I presented my project to our business unit head. He seemed to be happy and satisfied with my efforts. I had Mexican taco for lunch with him. We had a great conversation.
And so my internship ends; with a buch of bagels, yogurt, strawberries, and Mexican tacos.
It's the first time I get the chance to see and actually feel American corporate. People are nice in my company. Almost everyone gave me whatever support I needed. We interns even had the chance to talk to CEO!!
This Monday the company sent five of us to NYC to do a leadership simulation assessment. It took us whole day. Everyone worked in a seperate office in 32 floors in Mid-town Manhhatan. We had to play the role as a manager, dealt with the never-ending emails, coached our team members, and made many urgent decisions. For me, the simulation is really difficult. I had no idea what to say when somebody asked me for a promotion. Also, I couldn't decide what action to take when there is a conflict between departments. Anyway, I think I did a horrible job there. But I am really curious about how they're going to evaluate my leadership potential based on this simulation.
And so it ends. My first year MBA.
