This week we had two important simulation games. One is for OPS (operation), and the other one is marketing simulation.

For OPS, we have to manage a factory for a whole week. One week in real life equals to 270 days in simulated days. During the simulated period, we have to control our inventory and capacity according to our forcast of demands.

For marketing, we did a two-day simulation game with our own learning team. Each team is a car company in the simulated world. We have to survey the market, identify potential opportunity, and make strategic marketing decisions accordingly. Meanwhile, we have to allocate resources to marketing communication,  R&D, factory productivity. Also, we need to analyze financial statements to better supoort our management decision. The car market will be running for 8 years in the simulated world. The measurement of performance for simulation result is stock price. I had a lot of fun with my learning team in this game. We were doing pretty well in first 5 simulated years; however, in the sixth year, we started loosing market shares and our stock price decreased dramatically. We ended at being second to last in our car market.

This week was long and tiring. However, the experience of doing simulation games is great. I bet I won't have another chance in the future.
